Nazi SA Dagger RZM marked - Arthur Evertz - Solid ~
For sale here is an all-original matching finish later model SA dagger. The good news is that this dagger has not been cleaned up at all so nobody has had a chance to ruin it. All the parts fit together nicely. Other than that, it has not been well stored over the years. Or at least not well protected during its early life.
The RZM M7/85 (Arthur Evertz, Solingen) marked blade is worn but the Alles für Deutschland motto is dark indicating that the blade has not been buffed or harshly cleaned. Much of the wear to the blade seems to be from repeated removal and insertion into the scabbard. A skilled restorer could clean up this blade significantly but, seriously folks, never try to clean the blade of this or any other vintage weapon yourself.
The crossguard appears to be plated with all the plate intact. There are some signs of corrosion particularly near the handle. Although the pommel nut has some surface wear, there is a pretty nice patina on the nut flats. I doubt that this dagger has ever been disassembled. The handle has a few dings but no deep scratches. Both the eagle insignia and roundel show light wear. Roundel retains 100% of enamel.
The scabbard is, I believe, of the painted variety and shows the most wear on this dagger. The fittings are in slightly better condition but the ball is a little flattened on one side. The flattened side is also quite worn at the ball. I have no idea what they did to cause that. The screws are all intact and do not appear to have been messed with but they do show some corrosion as does the scabbard ring.
