Classics Illustrated #5 - HRN 170 - Moby Dick ~
You are buying a brand new copy from the latest printing of Classics Illustrated, Cover price $9.99 unless otherwise specified. It will come to you bagged and boarded in NM/M condition just like it came to me from the publisher. This reprint of Classics Illustrated #5 is the 25th edition and the first reprinting in this format since 1971. The art is by Norman Nodel. Canada's Jack Lake Productions licensed the rights to Classics Illustrated from First Classics and began a new series of reprints in 2003 with the Classics Illustrated Junior line. Since then quite a few of the Juniors have been reprinted as well as several of the Classics Illustrated Special Issues and now the main Classics Illustrated series. The first reprint from the main series was #124 War of the Worlds which was issued in both perfect bound and hardcover formats in 2005. In late 2007, Jack Lake Productions began republishing the regular titles of Classics Illustrated on a regular basis. The new printings are in "regular" comic format, carry the full reorder list, and are HRN 170. In short, this is the first time Classics Illustrated has been done right since the 1960s. The company also produces and distributes other related print media products such as coloring books, stickers, posters and other printed material that utilize the Classics Illustrated comic artwork. This is a retro line of comics dating back to the 1950's and is quite different in it's appearance and subject matter compared to the superhero and Japanese anime style of adult comics which currently permeate the market today. Even though the Archie comics and Disney retro comics are available they do not have the same classic fairy tale subject matter which the Classics Illustrated Junior comics contain. *Some of our illustrations are made from pre-production art.
